Decided to build the blog on my home computer

I thought a lot about using this site for my new blog, but there were a few items that pushed it against using it. In particular the ability to integrate by code repositories with this site.

So in the end, I have built my blog on my home server using wordpress. . Please visit Chandler's Zen at http://www.chandlerfamily.org.uk

Extending my experiment

In my previous post "an Experiment" I said I was starting off trying out this blog. In the meantime I created a blog on my own web site on a home server (currently http://www.chandlerfamily.org.uk - but maybe not for long) but have found it difficult to run because it requires continued update of the software modules - I receive e-mails almost weekly to update one or other of its modules. I am midway through replacing my home server with a newer machine - which gives me a good chance to change.

So I am going to explore moving Chandler's Zen completely over to here, but using the "missing files" option to redirect some parts of the web site that are more static or more technical (eg gitweb) to my home server.

I'll see how it goes
